Our resume must have an Employment history if we have worked previously, irrespective of how versatile our work experience is write only the relevant work experience, which is in the interest of the company where we are applying. For instant suppose, if we are applying for software development job profile, we write only programming related work experience. Though we have also worked on marketing profile, dont mention this because our marketing experience is not at all relevant for software development job. It might create a negative impact.
*Chronological This is the most commonly used type of resume. Because its arranged by time, a chronological resume is the easiest to organize and write. Its also the easiest to read (which is another plus in the sales and marketing process!) The Chronological Resume is the standard, tried and true resume format, which I recommend to 95% of my clients. Why? Because it works! A chronological resume is the right choice when you are continuing in the same occupation and/or industry; when your career shows a clear pattern of increasing levels of responsibility; and when your employment history has no significant gaps. Dangers: Any gaps in your work history will stand out like a sore thumb. Limited work experience can also be very apparent. And if past jobs dont tie-in directly to the type of positions youre seeking now, or if youre changing careers completely, it may be tougher to sell your capabilities to a new employer using the Chronological Resume.
2. If it doesnt include a summary, your resume might be old school. The summary or professional profile is a standard element today an introduction to your relevant skills and fit with the position.
If applying for a teaching position, the desired length of a resume can vary depending on the Principal/ Superintendent or school district. If you are unable to identify whether a one page or two page resume would be better, seek advice from an insider, i.e. a recently hired teacher or an administrative member. If you still cannot find the answer and would prefer to err on the side of caution, create two separate resumes. Develop a two page document first and take out little extras or repeated information to condense it into a one page resume.
