It has often been noted that it is easier to keep a job than it is to find a job. Competition is high for professional level jobs, and landing a desirable job requires a person's best efforts. Sending out a resume is no longer enough for a person to get a job. Because numerous resumes are submitted to companies that have employment openings, companies only select a few people from the submitted resumes to call in for an interview. When a person uses professional resume samples to create a resume, he is increasing his chances of getting called in for an interview. Once a person is called in for an interview, he is now only competing with a handful of other people and his chances of getting the position are significantly increased.
Resumes help you by showing potential employers that you are the right candidate for the position. Stand out from the crowd with a stellar resume. Words have power. Make your resume more powerful by using action verbs in your accomplishment statements. Resumes should always focus on results. Dont write job descriptions. Dont just describe what you did, but actually give concrete results that you achieved. Use captivating titles and strong keywords to draw the readers attention and to create a standout impression of you as a job candidate. Yes, you often only get one chance to make a first impression. Your resume is your first chance to make a good impression on hiring manager.
What can you do instead? Treat your cover letter like you would any other. Explain with passion why you really want this position. Let them know how you can enhance the companys mission with your expertise. And sell yourself as a great asset. You will have your chance to explain why you were fired; but dwelling on it in the cover letter is not the best place to do it.
One mistake that job seekers make when creating their resume is writing out the responsibilities they were given when employed at a company, rather than noting the goals they accomplished. For example, if you created a system for sorting and organizing paper and electronic files as a secretary, instead of stating that your responsibilities included sorting and organizing paper and electronic files, you can make the process action-based.
