6. If it lists too many qualities or interests, your resume might be old school. Employers have hired one to many dependable team players who didnt show up to work and couldnt take direction. Resumes today prove skills with accomplishment stories instead of listing qualities. Your personal interests skiing, hiking, etc., are also not of interest unless they are directly related to the position, company, or companys social mission.
If you've produced revenue in any capacity where the amount has varied over time, then focus mainly on the peak amount generated, as this figure will show the strength of the results you can attain.
Tip #6 - Show Broad Knowledge - While you may be tempted to only put some of your jobs on your resume that are directly linked to the job you are trying to apply for, it is important that you show a broad scope of knowledge. You want the prospective employer to see that you do have excellent experience in the area of expertise needed for the job, but you also want to show other knowledge and skills that you have acquired that can make you an even better candidate for the job.
Truly highlight what you offer, dont hijack other peoples qualities. Use care in choosing words that reflect your professionalism and background. Sprinkling in words that dont define who you are will make your resume suspect. As an example, many jobseekers use the word "loyal" in their resume, but a quick read of the resume reveals they held three jobs in the last five years.
