Ivona Gita. resume. June 10th , 2017.
7. Poor examples of experience: If you want to be shortlisted then you need to include specific examples of your achievements and the impact they have had. Too often people say something like I have successfully managed a team of 20 staff without saying why it was successful.
These key words get straight to the point of describing your responsibilities, which is exactly what the employers are looking for. Chose these words carefully - don't say that you "managed a project", implying you were responsible for the whole task from start to finish if you were only responsibly for communicating the project to other associates. Instead state that you "Developed and executed the communication strategy for associates," describing your role more accurately and emphasizing your strengths.
Among the many resumes my firm receives, occasionally some are paired with pictures. We've seen everything from self-portrait-style bar shots (on younger marketing resumes) to actors' head shots (especially for applicants in NYC and L.A.), to traditional, professional corporate portraits.
10. Accomplishments vs. Job Functions. It is absolutely necessary to show the reader what your job involved. However, its just as important, if not more so, to show that you had accomplishments, that you were a benefit to your employer.
