Corina Marisol. resume. June 27th , 2017.
- Self assessment This is where you really self examine. What kinds of things do you like to do? Where do you currently excel? What do you gravitate to outside of your current job? What did you dream of doing when you were younger? Are there people you know who have fun sounding jobs? Are there causes you believe in?
Its shocking to me that the majority of job hunters are still using an objective. First, let me say STOP THAT! Next, let me tell you why: An objective is all about what you want. Truthfully, hiring managers couldnt care less. Your objective statement means absolutely NOTHING to them. It does not make you stand out, it does not position you as a leader, and frankly, instead of getting you somewhere, firmly plants you three steps back. However, a personal branding statement, followed by a career summary that is strategically formulated around your unique promise of value, is the golden ticket. If that was Greek to youand you have no idea what Im talking abouthold on, its about to get better.
If you can avoid using a reference from your previous employer then it would be a good idea to do so. However, if you must reference the employer from which you were fired, you might want to try a manager with whom you had a good relationship, despite how you departed. That way, they can focus on your personality or work ethic (if it was good) and not so much on why you were fired.
Ask yourself the hard questions. This can be the most difficult part in writing your own resume. You have to dig really deep and brainstorm about your past accomplishments. Think not only about the obvious ones that you remember automatically; consider what may not have been huge in your eyes but had positive repercussions.
